The Flip. p3. Alignment

What are the right filters for you to shine doing what you do?

The way you can make this feel right is analyzing through your inventory and the narrative that propels you…

when did you do your best work

when did you create a greater impact for your clients

when did you knew in your gut things could go south (red flags everywhere) and chose to ignore the signs

The goal of alignment is to enable Trust, so that:

  • Things that are said will be done get done.
  • Fosters and sustains innovation in the long run.

Rich Diviney sustains there are 4 elements of trust:

  1. Competency. “I trust you to do the thing right“
  2. Consistency. “I trust you to do the right thing over time“
  3. Integrity. “I trust you to do the right thing.”
  4. Compassion. “I trust you to do the right thing for someone because you care about them as a human being.“

Stephen M. R. Covey, that there are tangible, real ways to quantify trust levels. This applies to you whether you’re flying solo or running an organization. You work with contractors, sub-contractors, experts in other fields, clients, suppliers.

You can start with these 3 questions:

  1. To the inside:
    •
Do you trust your [boss, employee, VA, supplier, contractor]?
  2. To the outside (clients)
    •
    Do you trust me/our organization?
    • Do you trust our sales representative or account manager?

Hot take: if you or your clients take time to think about it, it’s not on the high-end.

Here’s the thing

Trust is this hidden driver of how there’s alignment in what you believe (your purpose and narrative) and what you do (the impact you create).

Questions that would lead to this:

  • What are the decisions that enable you to shine?
  • What’s the system for these decisions to be made?
  • What’s the language you use to frame your processes?
  • Do you trust [______]?
  • Do they trust me?
