The BEST guitar player of all times

Everything is seen as a competition. Winners. Losers.

Who’s the best —and everyone else can’t be the best too. There needs to be only one.

It’s about winning. In business. Or life.

How can you win where there are no fixed rules or equal results?

How can you win in a game that will outlive you?

Whoever tells you “Here’s how you’ll win [in life or in business]” is bullshitting you.

You can get ahead or behind. Winning? Nah.

Ask yourself: do you really have competition?

The interesting thing about conversations on your business is how you get to see what’s around you.

It’s all a choice. It all in your power. You can choose to think, say and act like:

  • This is my competitor
  • This is my rival

A small, yet important difference: Competitors v Rivals.

In a competition, you’re there to win (it’s a finite game). It has a beginning, middle and an end. It’s a zero-sum game. Winner AND losers.

Rivalry sees things as more of a long game. It focuses on ahead and behind, for there’s no end to the game itself and the way to push the others is by pushing harder to stay ahead. It becomes a virtuous cycle of how to improve.
You want them to thrive, to improve, to play with the best of the best, because that’ll get you to, also, play with them.

Who’s to define who’s THE best at business? According to whom? Defined by what?

It’s not about who’s the best —as there is no “best” in business.

Just like there’s no Best Guitar Player of All Times.
