Delulu. Adjective. Internet slang for “delusional“, characterized by or holding false beliefs or judgements about external reality that are held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary, typically as a symptom of a mental condition.
Oxford Languages TL;DR. The perception of reality vs the actual reality are very different. There’s a time where delusion is disguised as optimism. A time where the expectations of what’s supposed to happen in a business and the reality of what’s actually happening are opposed. YET, the perception of both is that things are going well. Or in the case of naïveté, there’s the hope it’ll fix itself. With no decision. No hard, uncomfortable conversations. Just magically. It happens inside of the business itself. It happens in relationships with bad fit customers. In relationships with bad fit vendors. If you’re in that stage, know it won’t fix itself. It takes a decision. A hard one. Absolutely uncomfortable. Yet that is the kind of decisions that turn things around. And you’ll see the difference. |
