Brian Collins (once again) wrote this article about fear.

You need fear, you need insecurity —I’d argue you even need pain. Because that’s what also lets you see into the other side of life. Where you are not comfortable anymore. And, if channeled right, it might just be the thing that leads you to something awesome.

Here’s what he wrote.????

Last year, I invited my friend (and our Chief Strategy Officer) Taamrat Amaize to give a talk with me at the spectacular OFFF Festival in Barcelona. The crowd numbered over two thousand people. Easily.

The day of our talk, after we finished up lunch and went over our final notes, Taamy seemed unusually, say… anxious. I went to ask her what was up, but before I could get my sentence out, she blurted out that she was scared.

“What?” I asked. “Really?”

“Yes. Terrified” she said. “I mean, there are THOUSANDS of people here.”

“Oh, you’re really scared? GOOD.”

“Wait, what?” She was baffled.

“You’re scared. You should be. That means you’re alert.”

I explained how the power of fear, especially in very tense moments, arrives to keep us on our toes. To keep us alert. Aware. Present. And to welcome fear as fuel to deliver a strong talk to all of the people who came to Barcelona to see one. Fear can be energy if you channel it right. I told her I was easily, secretly, deeply just as terrified, but I had (gradually, slowly) learned how to welcome it and even leverage that fear. In fact, when fear doesn’t show up, I get worried.

So we talked about fear.

Later, Taamy delivered such an extraordinary presentation that she was invited to give a keynote at another huge conference the very next morning. And she crushed it there again, too.

So, welcome fear. It’s nice to see you.

To give you an idea of exactly how she does just that, here’s a great interview with Tammy from our friends at The Creative Factor.

It was published this morning: https://www.thecreativefactor.co/articles/taamy-amaize

Scared, indeed.

Embrace fear. 🙂
